Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 Review
The base Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110) design features a black coupe (this option does not cost anything extra), but Dell’s innovative switch casings Design Studio (excluding Dell Inspiron Series R) can modify their design cover for $ 34.99 more. There are many coverage options, including fire peacock blue, red, pink or Lotus (my favorite). To move the eye, you just press a button on the back cover that allows pop. The laptop is made of plastic, but the interior and the exterior has a polished finish to it, give it a more dynamic design.
Because this is a desktop replacement notebook, the 17.3-inch screen is pretty standard. In 1600, the resolution of 900 will give you 720p for HD content, but not 1080p True HD videophiles might be craving. However, with HDMI port and WIDI 2 option allows you to physically or wirelessly connect your laptop to your HDTV or monitor that supports True HD resolution. (Note that in order to use the option WiDi2 you need to get the Netgear dongle Push2TV to get the wireless signal, $ 99 extra). HD, of course, must be digital in nature Inspiron 17R (N7110) only comes with a dual-layer DVD + /-R. If you are looking for a portable unit like Blu-ray, check out the Samsung RC512-S02 ($ 1,199.99 list, 4 stars), and Asus N53JF-XE1 ($ 1,015 street, the 4 stars).
The full-sized keyboard in the ever popular style chiclet. At right, a numeric keypad for number crunchers will appreciate. On top of the function keys on the keyboard dual multimedia keys. Volume control buttons, screen brightness, and pause / play your music or movies, there’s even a button to disable the touchpad for players now, if there was only one way to disable the Windows key. Touchpad is smooth and supports pinch to zoom, two finger scrolling, and some other features gesture-based. The mouse buttons were easy to click.
If you include your great 90WH 48Wh battery and extra battery (both included in the configuration of our review unit), the Dell series weighs 8.33 pounds. With only a 90Wh battery, the system weighs 7.67 pounds, and with only the 48Wh battery system weighs 7.26 pounds. Whatever the battery is connected, the size of this laptop and weight probably will stay home bound. Similar 17.3 “laptops like the HP Pavilion dv7-4283cl ($ 999.99 list, 4 stars), with a 87WH battery, weighed 7 pounds.

HP Pavilion G7 1150us Review Specs and Price
HP Pavilion G7-1150us is powered by previous generation core i3-370M processor. It may come to your mind, with the availability of successors of this processor like core i3-380M or Sandy bridge i3, is it worth buying. One thing I would like to point in this regard is that there is no significant difference between core i3-370M and i3-380M processors. However, if you go for i3-2310M processor, you will get better graphics for sure, but that comes at extra price. If you are looking for a mobile computing solution for running applications like After Effects CS5 or similar application then you should go for core i5 or i5 Sandy bridge powered laptop like Toshiba Portege R835-P56x. HP G7-1150us comes with Intel core i3-370m dual core processor with Hyper Threading technology, 3MB of L3 cache and operates with 2.4GHz frequency.
The graphics of HP G7-1150us is Intel GMA HD earlier generation graphics which supports DirectX 10. The graphic is built into the processor but in different die. The graphics can accelerate HD video and is capable of dual display via HDMI port. The graphics is also able to display content in Full high definition mode. However, one must have supporting display. HP G7-1150us display resolution is 1600*900, so you can’t watch content in full HD mode. Intel GMA HD supports MPEG2, H264, WMV9, VC1 video formats. It is not a gaming graphics but you can play games like star craft 2, COD modernwarfare 2, at low setting and details. However, most of the Direct X9 compatible games can be played with decent frame rates but you must keep detail setting low. Graphics can notch up to 1969MB of shared memory.
RAM – The laptop comes with 4GB of memory and can be upgraded to 8GB. The hard drive capacity is 640GB that means you can store large number of movies, songs, photos and documents in your computer disk.
Display- The size of the display of G7-1150us model is 17.3” diagonally and maximum resolution supported by it is 1600*900. The display features LED backlit LCD display.
Operating system is Windows 7 home premium with “service pack 1”
Audio- the laptop offers SRS premium sound with integrated Altec Lansing speakers.
When comes to connectivity, it comes with 10/100 MBps fast Ethernet support and 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity. Ports include 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 VGA, 1 headphone out and one mic in,
HP G7-1150us also comprises of webcam and integrated microphone, plus integrated DVD burner.

Lenovo ThinkPad X201 Review
The design of the X201 is almost similar to the rest of the Lenovo’s ThinkPad-series laptops. The X201 looks pretty attractive and it appears to be nicely designed. Its body has black metallic finish that offers sturdy grip in the hands. The changes in the ThinkPad over the year are quite subtle.
The X201 features traditional, decent tapered-key keyboard. Nowadays, several laptop makers are switching to flat-topped island-style keyboards. However, the keys on the X201 are large and convenient to type upon. The important keys like Shift, Alt and Tab are good size. The palm rest area has been squeezed to make room for larger keyboard.
The touchpad is relatively small compared to other laptops. Touchpad has good responsiveness and there by it is convenient to use. However, we had some problem to pinch-to-zoom on this laptop. The mouse buttons are present at the bottom. Lenovo also includes larger than usual trackball with dedicated buttons for it. It is unnecessary as it has decent touchpad and it also tampers some of the keys in the keypad.
